INTRODUCTION
OpenHDS is an open source Android tablet program that enables community field workers to gather vital health data such as births, deaths, migrations, pregnancies, delivery, and immunizations. Field workers must have mobile connectivity in order to collect data offline and upload it to the OpenHDS. Administrators of health programs and decision-makers can thus access demographic and health data in the community in real time. Users of the web-enabled, tablet-based OpenHDS application can quickly pick individuals who have already registered and open several OpenDataKit (ODK) forms to gather more demographic, morbidity, and service delivery data. Health administrators and academics can examine the use of the health system and the burden of disease for a given population over time in addition to computing demographic data.
The OpenHDS also creates up-to-date registration books and maintains a consistent record of key demographic events that affect a population in a specific geographic area. Installation, use, and maintenance of openHDS are the main topics of this course. At the conclusion of each segment, there are exercises that put the concepts provided into practice. At the conclusion of each module, we also offer additional tasks and resources, as well as access to our subject-matter experts for any additional inquiries.
